What is this ‘populism’?

14 Dec '17 6.30 - 8.30 pm

Is there a common thread in the political tendencies in different parts of the world today (Trump, Brexit, Modi, Erdogan, Le Pen...) that are being described by the term ‘populism’? What is meant by ‘populism’? What are the issues at stake and what are the underlying causes? In his lecture Akeel Bilgrami will try and address these questions and provide a social, political, and economic diagnosis of contemporary populism, while also exploringing its wider philosophical significance.

Please note that registrations via email is required for this free lecture.
